Grape Seed Extract: 35 mg Grape seed extract is typically extracted from the seeds of red grapes (instead of white), which have a high content of compounds known as oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs). Grape seed extract is extremely rich in polyphenols, compounds with high antioxidant activity. Grape seed extract has been found to maintain healthy cholesterol levels.*
Red Wine Extract: 40 mg Red wine extract is a potent antioxidant. This extract is found in grape vines, roots, seeds and stalks, with the highest concentration in the skins. The antioxidant properties of red wine extract contribute to maintaining healthy circulation by strengthening capillaries, arteries and veins, and promoting overall cardiovascular health.*
In the late 1990s, scientists took note of a phenomenon among the French. There were very low rates of cardiovascular problems in the provinces where residents consistently ate high fat foods and drank red wine. Scientists concluded that the protective properties of red wine have helped the French maintain cardiovascular health for years and subsequent scientific studies have further shown that the OPCs found in red wine are particularly beneficial for protecting the heart and blood vessels.*
Pine Bark Extract : 35 mg
As one of the most potent natural scavenger of free radicals, this extract combats many aggressive free radicals before they cause oxidative stress to vital organs. Its super-antioxidant capabilities help support healthy blood platelet activity, support healthy blood glucose levels, reduce mild menstrual cramping and abdominal pain, maintain joint flexibility, promote cardiovascular health, promote healthy sperm quality, maintain healthy cholesterol levels and support a healthy complexion.*
Bilberry Extract: 35 mg Bilberry extract is derived from the leaves and berry-like fruit of a common European shrub closely related to the blueberry. Extracts of the ripe berry are known to contain flavonoid pigments known as anthocyanins, which are powerful antioxidants. Scientific studies confirm that bilberry extract supports healthy vision and venous circulation. Bilberry extract helps maintain healthy circulation by strengthening capillaries, arteries and veins.*
Citrus Extract (Bioflavonoids): 35 mg Bioflavonoids are antioxidants found in certain plants that act as light filters, which protect delicate DNA chains and other important macromolecules by absorbing ultraviolet radiation. They have been found to promote cardiovascular health, help maintain healthy circulation by strengthening capillaries, arteries and veins, and demonstrate anti-inflammatory activity.*
Vitamin C: 10 mg Vitamin C helps support cardiovascular health in a few different ways. It assists in promoting normal levels of cholesterol and normal blood pressure and promotes normal platelet activity. It also promotes healthy triglyceride levels. Vitamin C protects against LDL peroxidation by scavenging free radicals. Vitamin C helps maintain endothelial cell function by promoting the synthesis of nitric oxide (also known as NO and EDRF for endothelium-derived relaxing factor).
Vitamin E: 5 iu Since vitamin E is one of the most powerful fat-soluble antioxidants in the body, it helps protect cell membranes from the damage caused by free radicals. High doses of vitamin E have been found to reduce the risk of heart attacks by decreasing blood clotting, which may be advantageous to those with heart disease. Vitamin E is linked improving heart health, enhancement of immune system function and topical wound healing.

| Pine bark provides hope for cancer patients |
A new product which could help reduce the debilitating effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy among cancer sufferers is being produced from pine bark.
A new product which could help reduce the debilitating effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy among cancer sufferers is being produced from pine bark. Researchers from HortResearch and Enzo Nutraceuticals in New Zealand are working together to develop a range of botanical drug products which they hope will be effective in fighting not only cancer but also other serious diseases such as Alzheimer's, heart disease and stroke.Aegis BioActives, as the joint venture between the two companies is called, was formed after 15 months of collaborative research led by cell biologist Dr Iona Weir.
Weir had been testing compounds for ways to inhibit cell death when she came across Enzo's dietary supplement Enzogenol, which contains antioxidants extracted from pinus radiate bark. She discovered that the extract was more potent than anything else she had tested, and this discovery was the start of the collaboration between the two companies. |
